Even though I “retired” from farming many years ago to raise my family, I still live on my family’s fifth-generation farm and remain connected to the local agricultural community. One of my favorite things about living in the Garden State of New Jersey is the amazing array of farm markets!
From small roadside stands to large community markets, you can’t go far without running across some local produce, eggs, or honey–if you leave the Turnpike, that is. I will never understand how people form opinions on a place solely based on their experience driving on the highways and watching some terrible television representations!
Even if you never manage to get to your own local farmer’s market–although it will be worth your while to do so–you can stitch up a version of the iconic roadside stand for yourself. “Shop” locally and personalize the front of the counter with appliqué or embroidery.
This block is part of Quilt Block Mania. A group of designers agreed to create quilt block patterns based on one theme. We hope to introduce you to a wide variety of designers and techniques while you have fun creating your own quilt.
