Never one to turn down a challenge, I’m participating in Cheryl Sleboda’s 31 Day Blog Writing Challenge and following a prompt each day to post a little something. (I put a link to her post down at the bottom–that’s where you can find all of the participants. Heck, you can join in, too, you can post on social media if you don’t have a blog.)

Day 8: SKills I Wish I Had

Hmmm. In this day and age, when it’s so easy to find excellent instruction online and/or in person, I tend to seek out the information I need to learn new things. However, there are a few things that I either haven’t found the patience or the time to learn properly.

  • I’ve never found the time to sit down and properly learn needle-turn appliqué.
  • I’ve never found the patience to practice long-arm quilting enough to get comfortable with it.
  • I just can’t seem to get the hang of machine binding without a faux flange. I prefer stitching by hand, but there are occasional projects that I’m okay with using the machine instead. It just never looks quite neat enough for me to use it more often.

If any of you have recommendations for a needle-turn appliqué teacher, let me know in the comments!
